The Ways that the Military is Using Alternative Energy

The U.S. Army knows that its branches must renew their thinking about how to participate in the “theater of war” in the new post-Cold War world of the 21st century. One thing the efforts of military leaders is the desire of the forces deployed in theater to be more self-sufficient in energy. Currently, the U.S. military has policies and procedures to interact with allies or sympathetic local population to help its forces in the field derive their energy and water required when engaged in military campaigns abroad. However, it is not entirely reliable, as the United States could well be against unilateral military action or herself in a situation where its allies can not help with the resources they need to conduct successful military actions.

U.S. army is very interested in certain alternative forms of energy, with the right research and development of technology, can make independent energy, or at least much more on the battlefield. One of the things that greatly interests the military in this direction is to develop small nuclear reactors, which could be portable, a local theater production of electricity. The army is impressed by how clean-burning power plants, energy efficiency and how they are. Making a typical mobile war today is very mobile, small-scaled military operations is something they are researching. The most important thing that the U. S. Army believes that these small nuclear reactors would be useful to request the removal of hydrogen (fuel cell) from seawater. It is also estimated that the conversion in sea water, hydrogen fuel is thus less negative environmental impact than current practices continued in the field.

The sea water is, in fact, the best interests of the army when it comes to the issue of alternative energy supply. Seawater at infinity “extract” from the hydrogen, which in turn advanced fuel cells. Using OTEC, seawater can also be endlessly converted into desalinated water. Drinking water and hydrogen for energy are two things that a future military force deployed near the greatest need of all.

In the heart of nuclear reactors, as indicated above, are very interesting devices, as mobile, the U.S. military, we have encountered temperatures of 1,000 degrees Celsius. Once that temperature level is mixed with a thermo-chemical process of water sharing that we have in our hands the most effective way to break water into its constituent parts, which are molecular hydrogen and oxygen. Minerals and salts contained in seawater were extracted using a desalination process to make the way clear for water splitting process. These can then be exploited, such as vitamins or salt, or simply discarded at sea (recycling). Use the power of nuclear reactors to extract hydrogen from the sea to such inputs, fuel cells to power advanced airplanes, tanks, vehicles and other ground is much higher on the R & D list of priorities the army.
